Technology Projects |
As a student, I'm enrolled in a technology class where not only do we learn about all of the interesting things going on in the tech world, but we are also learning hand how to do some of the tasks that ITs find themselves daily! For example, we helped out Mr Andrews in handing out iPads to students throughout the school. Outside of that, Techies find ourselves working The Knight Club Coffee Shop & Wifi House, helping students with iPad problems, and and any tech problem that teachers come to have! We also have a technology page, http://nvastech.weebly.com/ , that we work on!

The Hour Of Code is also something we participated in as techies! The Hour Of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries. Anyone, anywhere can organize an Hour of Code event. One-hour tutorials are available in over 30 languages. No experience needed. Ages 4 to 104. If you're interested click the logo to the left!_

One of the assignments we had was installing the GradeCam plug-in for Naiku on a minimum of 3 teachers. GradeCam is a plug-in, a program that can easily be installed and used as part of your Web browser, but GradeCam allows teachers to export their students scores from Naiku, and import them straight into their grade book! We keep in touch and receive updates from Mrs. Leiker by using remind 101, which sends texts or e-mails at set times to specific people.

As a "techie", we are required to install various applications for teachers around the building. The Remote app is an application we installed for teachers that lets them use their iPad as a remote to the Apple TV. Visit their site by clicking the logo above!

We also as "techies" had to create a TouchCast. A TouchCast is an app that allows you to show what you're doing on your device from your perspective. It's really useful when creating a tutorial. Check out my TouchCast on QR Codes down below! Visit their site by clicking the logo above!

C.I.P.A.
The Children’s Internet Protection Act or CIPA was enacted by Congress in 2000 to address concerns about children’s access to obscene or harmful content over the Internet. CIPA requires that K-12 schools and libraries in the United States use Internet filters and implement other measures to protect children from harmful online content. At our school CIPA matters because it restricts what the younger students have access to do. I believe at our school the kids under 13 years old cant send or receive an email from an outside email under their "@student.nvknights.org" account |
Teachers use Casper Focus, which allows them to lock a students iPad to and app or website and they can't exit it, they use this for test taking so students can't search the web for answers. Learn more by clicking the logo above.

Most of our class assignments are posted on iTunes U. iTunes U is nice because of the easy organization of what you have or haven't completed. iTunes U courses let teachers give each class a customized learning experience. Teachers can create and manage their course and students can experience it all from the iTunes U app on iPad.
